Olrite! How’s everyone Sunday? I had the best Sunday in my life ever =D
I attended DFM(Diploma in Family Medicine) second day course as a SP a.k.a stimulate patient. The role play was fun! I learn a lots throughout the whole session even though I am just a patient!Yup this time round I am a patient not the soon-to-be doctor! he-he. Told you it wasn’t easy to be a patient as well! I mean I was so wrong coz I always think that being a doctor/medical student is 100 times tougher! you know right?! Being a sp was not all about reading the script and just parroting! At some point of time, you need to lead the conversion especially when the doctor lost of track! *grin* ;P
Alright, let’s talk about the 1st session. I am a hypertension…opps no it’s high blood pressure! sigh jargon jargon! Basically this is what about, I came to see doctor coz fears of high blood pressure and want the doctor really do checking on me. So yea I learn PATIENT CONCERN, IDEAS,BELIEF,FEELING&EXPECTATION! Yup, the element from the BOGUS RP checklist! And also, discuss about the causes of HTN 1) food habits(cofeee, high salt intake) 2) family conflicts 3)working 4)alternative medicine(chinese med:contains steroid & mak jong) 5) OCP 6) PIH during pregnancy 7) lifestyle 8)secondary causes
2nd sessions: 41y/o Female came for HIV test review. BREAKING BAD NEWS. I am suppose to cry in this session I think. But heyy I didn’t. The second doctor was the best he did a good job.As he really terrify me? or may be assure me…somehow he did make me hv the thought of ”OMG I’m having HIV +ve” for a second. Prof.Y role play, learn the skill tht u need to get the patient to touch and fell in order to convince and reassure them. Important stuff regarding HIV(viral load western-blot,spectrum,AIDS), understand the dx how it transmitted, concern abt family member esp children, notification to health authorise must do within 24hrs, CONTACT TRACE.
Overall, I think I perform better in 1st session. Fruitful day I would said.I am not only gaining knowledge which would be plus point for my current fam med posting but also I get the chance to eat awesome-five-star-hotel food and and my $100 incentive.yup contributing for my coming weekend shopping!!!
My life so far as a fourth year medical student is AWESOME! Currently Sem 8 and doing family medicine posting. Was given chance to join doctor for clerking patient in the clinic, I felt I am one step closer to be a doctor already. Lots of funny stuff happen while I am doing clerking, thanks to ohmymalay! haha so yea it’s kinda hard for me as I am not fluent in speaking malay! lol, what I did most of the time is direct translate either form chinese or english into malay.
And meeting Dr.Hairel again for the clinical session after two years. He was my clinical skill guru during my second year! I would says 80% of my clinical skill learn from him! Great and passionate teacher! Felt really bad that we actually disappointing him for not being a knowledgeable medical student! Most of the what we did is brain constipation! Disappointing much! Argh! Sorry Dr! But I promise that I will study really hard and be someone like you in future! And owh I would never forget the invisible lizard incident! Grrr… embarrassing much! >,<
Alright that’s all regarding my studies!
Major failed in my love life last year! I think I am a bad bad girlfriend! Too demanding, perhaps? :C
It’s love, you don’t find someone you love and loves you back that easily.
